The rumoured Samsung Galaxy S21 is tipped to have a better battery life compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S20. The Samsung Galaxy S21 was already mentioned by us in a previous article, stating that the new S21 will have a battery capacity of 4,000mAh which was the same for its predecessor, the S20. Now, based on recent developments, it can be confirmed that the new phone will have a 35% better battery life compared to its predecessor.
As per previous leaks, it can be confirmed that the new phone will have the same 4,000mAh as its predecessor. So, it can be confidently said that the new phone won’t get a bigger battery. This could only mean that the new Galaxy S21 will be better at battery optimisation.
If we look into the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series which include a total of three phones(Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra), the new phones are tipped to come in two processor variants- the Exynos 2100 SoC and the Snapdragon 888 SoC. As per a tweet by a tipster, the Exynos 2100 would deliver between 25 to 35 per cent better battery life over the Exynos 990-powered Galaxy S20. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 888 SoC variant of the Galaxy S21 has around 15 per cent better battery life than the Galaxy S20 powered by the Snapdragon 865.
The Snapdragon 888 SoC which was launched by Qualcomm last month was stated by the company to have a better battery performance. The company also claimed that the new processor came with Adreno 666 integrated GPU which is 20 per cent more battery efficient compared to its predecessor. On the other hand, Samsung has not officially revealed any information on power consumption regarding the yet to be launched Exynos 2100 SoC.
It is also believed that Samsung may use software based improvements to enhance battery life in the new phones.
The new Samsung Galaxy S21 series is believed to support both fast wired charging and fast wireless charging. Sadly, based on a tip, the new phones will not come with an in-box charger.
The expected launch date of the new phone series is January 14.
